Onboarding Kit Preview

If you’re going to do something nice for your customers, for free, make sure you tell them about it multiple times.

As a bonus to new retailers who purchased the initial stocking order (a full range of products always drives sales,) we were including a nice little onboarding kit to help transition independent pet store owners from their interaction with our sales rep to our order fulfillment and customer service team (…Ross… and sometimes his girlfriend… When I say small business, I mean it.)

Production: Voiceover and video from my Galaxy 8, duct-taped to a broom, duct-taped to a stool. I ruined at least four takes just by wrapping the damn box upside down. Very proud of the quality we achieved.

Dog Food Selling Point Feature

This was a video series highlighting features from the company’s best-selling foods. This brand’s major draw is it’s extremely novel protein sources.

(Because even the most allergic pets can’t be allergic to a species of opossum from Australia. It’s also a win for invasive species population control.) We wanted a fun video that would educate viewers on the dietary benefits of a brand that might otherwise be written off as coming from too far afield.

I wrote the script, worked with the Art Department to conceive the front porch setup and order props (alligator floatie from Amazon),

Concept pitch, script, minor production control.

Hosting a Cat Food Feature

On a day when all the customer service representatives were unavailable for production, I filled in as a video host.

And yes, I can still say the tongue twister.

Benefits of Distillation Animation

Even the most educated customers are unfamiliar with the processes that make or break a good CBD product. Especially at the higher price point, we wanted to produce a simple animation that would clearly explain the benefits to customers.

Developed and pitched concept, budget, script, storyboard. Created and managed assets, animation, and final deliverables for client. Incorporated revisions and feedback at all levels of production.

(This was my first animation. It’s not gonna win any awards, but we made it for a couple hundred bucks without buying any equipment. I recorded the voiceover on my phone. Yes, that’s me.)

Before & After

Something as simple as a before and after video can be a huge boon to the selling power of a small business product, but can be out of reach without small business marketers like myself!
